The Austrian Timber Industry Association reports a log price index of 143.5% (base: January 2001 = 100%) for the month of August. Compared to July, a slight decrease of 1.3 percentage points is recorded. Since the start of this year, the index value has lost 8.51 points. Compared to August 2023 (136.93%), the log price index increased by 6.57 percentage points.
A different development can be observed when it comes to the lumber price index. It increased by 2.4 percentage points month on month and reached 157% in August. Year on year, the index value gained 9.39 points. Since January 2024, it has been up by 5.81 points.
