From January to April, Germany exported more than 301,000 m³ of beech logs, which corresponds to a year-on-year increase of 28%. It is also the biggest export volume recorded in this period since 2019 (363,000 m³).
Shipments to China increased by 53% to over 180,000 m³, while exports to Austria grew by 22% and totaled just under 71,000 m³. Marked increases were also recorded in beech log exports to Denmark (13,500 m³; +26%), India (5,500 m³; +92%) and Switzerland (3,600 m³; +153%). Smaller volumes were sold in Sweden, Japan and the Czech Republic, as figures published by Destatis show.
