Finnos offers a wide range of products. One of the places where almost all of the company’s solutions are in use is Junnikkala’s sawmill in Oulu. It all starts in the log yard, with an X-ray scanner near the log infeed. The software tool Log Yard Control ensures optimized log handling and management in the log yard.

At the entrance to the sawmill, Finnos also installed a log measurement system, which recognizes the logs and thus enables optimal cutting patterns and maximum yield on the Veisto saw line. The board scanners and moisture measuring systems on the two sorting lines were also supplied by Finnos. “There is no place left where we could install another scanner. For our fingerprint technology, too, we have already made all the necessary preparations to make upgrades in the future, if necessary,” Jyri Smagin, Chief Sales Officer at Finnos, explains.
Successful start of a new partnership
“Of course, we are taking a certain risk by ordering all scanners and systems from just one supplier, especially since the Oulu project is the first time we are working with them,” Junnikkala says and adds: “At the same time, this also brings major advantages. Finnos is our point of contact for the entire plant – from the log yard to the shipping of the finished lumber packages. Our employees also appreciate this because they can continue working with the same systems even when they change working places. And if we run into a problem, Finnos is just a phone call away.”
