In 2025, pellet deliveries to Germany totaled 595,200 t, exceeding the 2024 level (385,000 t) by 55% or 210,000 t. A significant increase had already been recorded in 2009, when imports jumped from 70,600 t to 270,300 t in 2010. 2013 was the last year in which German pellet imports surpassed the 500,000-tonne-mark.

Pellet imports from Denmark increased by 2%, from 112,300 t in 2024 to 114,900 t in 2025, reaching the highest level since 2009. Deliveries from Belgium were up by 123%, totaling 107,400 t last year. As a result, Belgium overtook the USA, which had been the second most important supplier in 2023 and 2024. Meanwhile, purchases of US pellets decreased by 13% to 67,200 t in 2025. In 2023, they had still amounted to 95,000 t. It is assumed that industrial pellets account for the majority of the pellets that Germany imports from the US.

In 2025, Germany purchased 77,600 t of pellets from Austria, i.e. 355%, or 60,500 t, more than in the year before (2024: 17,000 t). This, too, represents the largest quantity since 2009. Imports from the Czech Republic (44,300 t, +236%), the Netherlands (25,400 t, +116%) and Latvia (19,400 t, +801%) also peaked last year. Deliveries from Poland increased by 40% to 76,000 t. In 2017, they had totaled 115,100 t. Pellet imports from France nearly doubled, amounting to 12,900 t in 2025 (+96%). The previous record quantity of 32,600 t was recorded in 2012.
