At just under 250,000 t from January to May, German pellet imports reached the highest level for this period since the Holzkurier began collecting data, as you can see in the Datacube. Increases, partly massive ones, were recorded in imports from all countries.
With an increase of 21% to 59,000 t, imports from Denmark grew at a relatively low rate. Purchases from Belgium were up by nearly 190% to 51,500 t, and deliveries from Poland grew by 160%, reaching a total of just under 44,000 t. Three-digit increases were recorded in pellet imports from the Czech Republic (25,000 t; +485%) and Austria (24,000 t; +301%).
In May alone, Germany imported 30,700 t of wood pellets. Compared to May 2024 (57,400 t), this corresponds to a 46% decrease, according to Destatis.
