With the biomass heating plant, Roche plans to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions of the production site by 18%, thereby avoiding the emission of 7,800 tonnes of CO2 each year, as merkur.de reports. The wood chips and chopped branches will come from regional forests. The company will invest €20 million in the construction of the heating plant, which should be completed in late 2025. The building application, which has already obtained the approval from the city of Penzberg, will now be forwarded to the district office for further approval.
