Estonian pellets producer AS Graanul Invest will invest in a new pellet plant in neighbouring Latvia. Its subsidiary, Sia Broceni Pellets, has acquired 16 hectares of land in the Broceni district and has already received building permission from the local government, the company announced in a press release. At the same time, long-term raw material supply contracts have been secured with the region’s major companies.
The plant’s estimated production capacity will be around 150,000 tons of pellets per year and it is expected to come online in early 2016.
Last year, pellet production totaled 1.73 million t in Austria, while demand amounted to 1.33 million t. Compared to 2022, production increased by 2%, and consumption grew by 6%.
