Japan raised its glue-laminated and cross-laminated timber imports by 12% to 158,000 m³ in the first two months of the year. In the same period of 2019, imports were at 141,000 m³. This is according to Statistics of Japan.
Japan bought more from all relevant supplying countries. Laminated timber imports from Finland rose by 9% year on year to nearly 61,000 m³. Imports from Romania (29,000 m³; +15%), Austria (20,500 m³; +27%), Russia (14,000 m³; +24%) and Estonia (12,000 m³; +7%) also saw increases compared to last year.
