In 2019, Stora Enso recorded an operational EBITDA of € 1.54 billion which fell by 17% compared to the previous year (€ 1.8 billion). Operating profit was at € 1.3 billion in 2019 and thus down by 6% compared to 2018 (€ 1.4 billion). Operational EBIT decreased by 29% to € 953 million.

11% of overall EBIT and 16% of sales were generated in the Wood Products segment. In 2018, the segment accounted for 13% of EBIT and 15% of sales.

In 2019, the Wood Products segment recorded sales of € 1.5 billion (2018: € 1.6 billion). This corresponds to a decrease of 3.2% year on year. EBITDA was at € 153 million € in 2019 and thus down by 23% compared to 2018 (€ 199 million). EBIT fell by 36% to € 105 million (2018: € 165 million).

In 2019, Stora Enso started up its third CLT plant at its production site in Gruvön/SE. The new plant’s annual production capacity is 100,000 m³. Last year, overall CLT production passed the one million cubic meters mark. Also, the company has already commissioned a feasibility study for a fourth CLT production in the Czech Republic.

Stora Enso’s solid timber segment supplies 2500 customers in 60 countries. According to its own statements, the company is the biggest supplier of solid timber construction products in Europe and the fourth biggest in the world. Stora Enso operates more than 21 production sites in eleven countries.
