In 2019, Södra recorded net sales of SEK 23.2 billion (€ 2.2 billion) which corresponds to a decrease of 4% compared to 2018. Operating profit plummeted by 43% to around SEK 2.6 million (€ 246 million). The company’s equity ratio remained constant at 59%. The Board of Directors proposed a profit distribution of about SEK 1 billion (€ 102 million).

“The global economy slowed after several years of strong demand and rising prices. Considering the market conditions, Södra’s operating profit of the full-year 2019 was robust from an historical perspective,” comments President and CEO Lars Idermark and adds: “Södra’s key financial figures and strong cash flow are signs of good resilience to more challenging conditions. The profit distribution proposed by the Board also confirms our strength and optimism.”

In 2019, the group started up its first CLT plant at its production site in Värö. Furthermore, a bioethanol plant was inaugurated in Mönsterås.
