Russia stood its ground as Europe's biggest plywood producer followed by Finland, Spain, the Baltic countries as well as Italy and France. Due to modified assessment guidelines and procedures, a precise indication of volumes is not possible, the European Panel Federation (EPF) informs. The annual report states that the association expects another increase of 3% for 2018.

Imports outside of Europe gained 7.4% in 2017 to a market value of €1.5 bn., while the volume maintained its level. Exports amounted to €352 million (+13%).
The annual consumption is estimated to total 6.6 million m³ according to the EPF. This big leap must also be taken with a pinch of salt for statistical reasons. Here, as well, an increase is expected for the current year. Main area of application were the construction sector (39%), furniture manufacturing (30%) as well as transport (13%).
