For the fourth quarter of 2017, Norbord announced an adjusted EBITDA of US$204m. Compared to the previous quarter, this is a gain of US$4m. Also other operating results prove that the year was record-breaking for Norbord: In the United States, adjusted EBITDA increased by US$286m to US$638m in one year due to higher North American OSB prices and higher demand for engineered wood. While the European business remained constant at US$41m, a positive development is predicted for 2018 for this market. This is mainly because the demand for OSB products as a substitute for plywood is said to increase, especially in Germany and the United Kingdom.
Aggregated at Group level, adjusted EBITDA increased by 75%. As a result, adjusted earnings doubled on 2016-results to $ 4.49 per share.
