Increased chipboard production in 2016

The member countries of the European Panel Federation (EPF) produced a total of 30.25 million m³ of chipboards last year. This means an increase of 0.8% compared to 2015, as the EPF annual report shows. For the current year, the volume is expected to increase to 30.8 million m³.

With 18% of the total volume, Germany is the biggest producer within the federation, followed by France (12%), Poland (9%), Italy (9%) and Austria (8%). With a share of about 6% each, Great Britain, Spain and Romania occupy the further ranks.

Chipboard imports increased in 2016 by 5.4% and amounted to 9.44 million m³ - they are expected to drop again this year to a total volume of 9.31 million m³. With a total volume of 10.5 million ³, the exports of the EPF members remained constant, as the report continues.
