New CLT and glulam production in Alabama

The site will process Southern Yellow Pine and be home to the brand IB X-Lam USA. According to the company, this will be the first CLT factory in the east of the country. Production is due to commence in spring 2018 already. The product range is expanded by glulam as an additional offer.

The intention is to invest around US-$ 19.6 million (€ 16.7 million) in the new production line. The facilities will be incorporated into an existing building south of Dothan. The double-shift operation is expected to create around 60 new jobs. Within a timespan of five years, an expansion by a third shift is anticipated which would entail hiring another 25 employees. The company did not specify any concrete numbers with regards to the planned processing capacity.

International Beams is part of the Lebcorp Company and manufactures I-beams, laminated veneer lumber (LVL) as well as rim board. Rim board is a kind of panel product that can be made from OSB, LVL or glulam according to apawood.org. It is mainly used in floor constructions.
