Pfeifer Group builds CLT plant

The Pfeifer Group has completed the planning phase for the construction of a CLT plant at the existing Hessian site Lauterbach and is currently starting implementation. Actual breaking of the ground at the working site is scheduled for autumn 2017.

Josef Dringel was endowed with the internal project management. He also serves as managing director for the two Czech locations. Anton de Menech is supporting him in management and implementation issues. Both men bring "long-standing, comprehensive know-how in the field of CLT" (editor’s note: both were members of the management board at Mayr-Melnhof Holz).

For Pfeifer, this investment is a further step towards the consolidation and expansion of the existing market position and further extends Pfeifer Group's range of timber construction. The locations in Imst/AT and Chanovice/CZ already produce gluelam, single- and multi-layer solid wood boards and structural solid wood (KVH). "Finally, we rightfully see ourselves as a full-range provider in timber construction", a company speaker said.

The Lauterbach plant went online in 2009. The 50 ha operating site currently accommodates a large-scale sawmill, a pallet block factory, a biomass heating plant and a pelletizing plant. In 2016 the 190 employees of the Lauterbach site achieved sales of approximately € 120 million.
