The German timber trade sector yielded a sales increase of 3.5% in November. Garden timber (+7%) and construction elements (+6.5%) were the driving forces behind this development, as becomes apparent in the intercompany comparison by GD Holz. Wood materials remained at existing levels. Cumulated over the period between January and November, the sales increase amounted to 3.3%. When it comes to the winter months, the inquired companies are rather sceptical.
In January 2024, Italian imports of laminated timber grew by 9% year on year, to 56,000 m³. With a trade volume of 49,000 m³, Austria accounted for 88% of Italy’s total imports.
