Japan imported 243,000 m³ of laminated timber (glulam and CLT) between January and April. Compared to the same period in 2015, the volume grew 9%, as data from the Japanese statistics authorities indicate.

In the first four months, imports coming from Finland gained 14% to 85,600 m³. Romania was the second largest supplier with a delivered volume of 58,800 m³ (+23%). Further increases have been observed for Estonian (20,600 m³; +13%), Russian (18,700 m³; +15%) and Swedish (17,200 m³; +21%) deliveries.

Import volumes from Austria (-8%; 34,000 m³), China (-43%; 4940 m³) and Germany (-42%; 2870 m³), however, declined.

The average import price (CIF) for European deliveries reached ¥ 49,900/m³ (€ 418/m³; -5%) in April.
