Austrian furniture producers boosted exports

According to the sector report by the Association of the Austrian Wood Industry, the exports of Austria's furniture industry increased by 4.9% to € 829.5 million. Especially manufacturers yielded a strong export increase: +13.9% to € 215.2 million.
Exports going to Germany grew 3.8% (production value € 339.7 million), and Switzerland imported 4.7% (€ 156.7 million) more Austrian furniture. Other important trade partners are Poland (+9.1%), Italy (+13.1%) and Hungary (+11.4%).
Imports increased as well: +0.7% to € 1.69 billion. Furniture imports coming from Germany showed a slight decline (-0.9%, € 843.2 million) - still, roughly half of all imported furniture originated in Germany. Strong import increases have also been observed from Poland (+6%, € 139.3 million), and another significant increase was reported for imports from China (+4.8%, € 138.6 million). The total increase of furniture imports from Asia adds up to 7.9%.
