In China, wooden floors are gaining ground: The market share for timber - in 2009 still at 34% - climbed to at least 36% last year.
With 390 million m³, the Chinese flooring market came in second place worldwide. However, the pressure from the real estate market caused a decline by 2.8% last year. In 2015, the Chinese flooring market is on an upward trend again; this is thanks to public growth agendas for housing constructions. Market forecast: +4.2%.
With 210 million m² (or 55%), laminate floors dominate the timber flooring market, where solid wood and bamboo floorings enjoy increasing popularity for quality as well as environmental reasons.
According to PR Wire, the big players on the Chinese market are: Power Dekor, Nature, Der, Shengda and Tubaobao. Power Dekor for instance was able to sell 443 million m² in 2014 alone.
