The prospect of an annual consumption of more than 30,000 tons of WPC in Russia and projected annual growth rates of up to 9% might have lured the Russian investment and industry holding company GS Group into an industry investment in the country: For RUB 200 million (€ 2.7 million), the company will set up a production plant for granulated wood-plastic composite (WPC) as well as extruded and injected end products in Ulyanovsk/RU. „The GS Composite plant will be the first in Russia to apply a technology for producing composite mixture with a significant proportion of hard plastic - polyethylene terephthalate (PET)”, the company claims in a press report.

According to experts, the volume of the Russian wood-plastic composites market is around 20,000 tons per year, of which over 40% are imported.
