Boise Cascade has reserved US$43 million (€40.5 million) to increase capacity in its plywood production in its Florien factory located in the state of Louisiana in the US South. The expansion will start this summer, completion is scheduled for late 2016. Florien is one of Boise Cascade’s three main production sites. Another plywood production line is situated in Oakdale, an engineered wood production in Alexandria.

Boise Cascade will replace two dryers in Florien to significantly increase the production capacity of veneers, a company source said. Moreover, the log yard and the presses will be enlarged to increase output. The operation in Florien provides veneer for the site in Alexandria which manufactures I-beams and laminated veneer lumber (LVL). The remainder of the plywood goes into making shuttering panels and flooring in Florien and Oakdale.

Last year, Boise Cascade reached a net profit of US$80 million (€75 million). Sales totaled US$3.6 billion (€ 3.4 billion).
