Statistics of Japan reports 76,179 housing construction starts in the month of April and a slight increase compared to March (76,120 units). Compared to April 2021, when construction had started on a little more than 74,500 units, a 2% increase was recorded.
From January to April, construction housing starts totaled 276,603 units in Japan, which is 4% more than in the same period of last year (265,520 units) and 5% than in the first four months of 2020 (263,750 units). In the years before 2020, however, the number of new housing units was higher.
