This graphic shows the high percentage of sustainable raw materials: Only parts of the ground floor, the central entrance area and the steel and glass facades (in grey) are not made of timber modules

According to the Federal Office for Building and Regional Planning (BBR), the new building designed by the architectural office Sauerbruch Hutton will be built near the Marie-Elisabeth-Lüders House on the so-called Luisenblock West in the quarter Berlin Mitte. In order to make sure that the required offices are available after the upcoming Bundestag elections in 2021, the new building is being constructed under the direction of BBR Kaufmann Bausysteme and PRIMUS developments as general contractor who is responsible for all planning, manufacturing and construction work for the project.

The building materials – mainly solid timber in the office areas and reinforced concrete on the ground floor and the entrance area – will remain visible once the construction is completed. To the north, facing the S-Bahnstrasse, the high-rise building will have a glass facade which opens up to a green lounge area. A big part of the facades is characterized by the external cladding of the timber modules.
