The event building, which was constructed by P. Lienbacher Holzbauwerke, offers an indoor lounge and a restaurant area, and a terrace on the roof of the timber structure. Only eight days are needed for the construction of the entire building.

One day is needed for the floor elements, the load-bearing structure including the interior wall elements and the ceiling panels. The assembly of the exterior wall elements, the windows and doors as well as the cladding and the window sills also takes only one day. Two days are needed to lay the floor and terrace elements and to assemble the timber structure. The entire building can be disassembled within four days. The event location can thus be set up and dismantled up to ten times a year.

Inspired by stage construction

This special way of building is possible thanks to a 20-meter long steel substructure with timber construction elements which can be set up and dismantled in a flexible manner. The core elements of the construction are the wooden floor and wall panels, the double-shell timber frame structure of the facade elements (inside: old wood – outside: silver fir), a cross-laminated timber ceiling and wooden panels on film used as floor of the roof terrace. While the flexible base compensates a difference in height of several meters, the floor, walls, facades and ceiling consist of standard elements which are simply mounted on site.

“For this to work fast, we opted for Knapp connectors: Megant and Ricon S for the load-bearing structure, and Ricon and Walco V for the façade elements,” explains Mario Ilsanker, technician at Lienbacher Holzbauwerke, who were entrusted with the assembly and disassembly of the building.

All connectors were screwed to the timber elements during prefabrication and remain connected to them after every disassembly, so that short assembly and disassembly times can be guaranteed.
