Between January and November 2018, construction volume increased 10% to a total of €72.3 billion, the Federal Statistical Office reported. This even exceeded the level of 2017 which had been the best year since 1996. In November alone, orders increased by 13.8% to €6.4 billion in the main construction sector. The high level of demand for apartments, especially in bigger cities, as well as low interest rates have been boosting the construction boom for years, the report claims.
