Slight decrease in softwood sawn timber exports

With a total of 2.1 million m³ in January 2020, Russian softwood sawn timber exports (including planed timber) decreased by 1.5% year on year. Russia’s main export market China bought 1.3 million m³, i.e. 3.9% less.

Exports to Uzbekistan fell slightly by 1.6% to 163,000 m³, whereas those to Egypt grew by 12.3% to 116,000 m³. Japan received 97,000 m³ and thus 22.4% more than in January 2019. 64,000 m³ (+39%) of softwood sawn timber were exported to Azerbaijan at the beginning of the year.
