Biggest Australian sawmill evacuated

Large parts of the city are cut off from its surroundings. At the moment, it is planned to resume production in the sawmill on Monday, 13 January, given the declaration of a State Emergency with ongoing evacuation, fire threat, limited power, limited road access and log supply all impacted.

With three production sites in Queensland and New South Wales, Hyne Timber is one of Australia’s biggest sawn timber and glulam producers. The sawmill in Tumbarumba is one of the biggest employers in the region.
