Decreasing softwood lumber exports

From January to November 2021, Russia exported a total of around 26.84 million m³ of softwood lumber, which is a decrease of 5% or 1.4 million m³ compared to the same period of 2020. The top export markets saw varying developments.

Exports to main foreign market China fell by 10.4% to 14.37 million m³. Decreases were also recorded in softwood lumber exports to Uzbekistan (2.04 million m³; -18.4%). Shipments to Azerbaijan (952,000 m³; +1.8%), Estonia (906,000 m³; +32.9%) and Japan (884,000 m³; +11.8%), on the other hand, saw increases compared to the first eleven months of 2020.
