Constant lumber exports

In January, Finnish softwood lumber exports were nearly at last year’s level, even though there were considerable changes in volumes shipped to the single foreign markets.

In January, Finland exported 673,000 m³ of softwood lumber and planed timber. Year on year, this corresponds to a 3% increase.

With exports rising by 39% to 84,000 m³, Great Britain has become the new number one market for Finnish lumber, followed by China (-44%; 68,000 m³). Big increases were also recorded in exports to France (+49%; 50,000 m³), Germany (+7%; 42,000 m³), Israel (+100%; 41,000 m³) and Algeria (+108%; 39,000 m³).

Smaller quantities of softwood lumber were shipped to Egypt (-22%; 59,000 m³) and Japan (-21%; 45,000 m³).
