From January to October, China imported 21.7 million m³ of softwood sawn timber, which is an 8% decrease compared to the same period of last year.
Nearly 13 million m³, i.e. 11% less year on year, were bought from Russia. Decreases were also recorded in imports from Canada (2.5 million m³; -33%) and Finland (848,000 m³; -22%).
Softwood sawn timber imports from Ukraine (834,000 m³; +23%), Sweden (820,000 m³; +42%) and Germany (816,000 m³; +42%), on the other hand, saw double-digit increases in the first ten months. Chinese imports from Belarus more than doubled, reaching a total of 521,000 m³ (+132%). Data are collected by China Customs Statistics.
