Quarterly sawmill turnover like never before

In the Q1, Germany's sawmill industry again increased its turnover: with €1.1 billion, sales gained 5% compared to the already good previous year. Never before has a first quarter seen a sales level this high (Destatis records began in 2005).

The result for March alone totaled €413 million. Effectively, this is last year's turnover. Since this year, however, especially February with a total of almost €400 million was very strong the German wood industry is looking at a quarterly result like never before.

Apart from the plus in exports, another contributing factor was also a strong domestic market.
