West Fraser's CEO Ted Seraphim explains this decision as follows: "Challenging lumber markets and high log costs coupled with log supply constraints have necessitated this difficult decision."
According to the company's press release, especially softwood lumber cutting will be affected. The management expects a production decline of 40,000 m³ in 2018.
