Rising softwood sawn timber exports

About 12 million m³ of sawn timber left Russia in the first five months of 2018. Compared to last year, exports grew by 6%. China, being Russia’s main client, received 6.9 million m³ and thus 5% more. Exports to Uzbekistan (1.1 million m³; +23%), Azerbaijan (419,000 m³; +30%) and Egypt (397,000 m³; +12%) have seen marked increases.

Exports to Japan (382,000 m³; -1%) and Iran (305,000 m³; -8%), on the other hand, decreased compared to 2017.
