Producer price index continues climbing

Statistics Sweden reports a producer price index of 139.7% for softwood lumber and planed goods in May. Compared to the previous month, the value gained another 1.9 index points. One year ago, the value was still at 125.8%.

With this, softwood lumber continues its long-time upward trend. The last time the producer price index topped the 130% mark was in the summer of 2010 (August 2010: 131.7%). A value of almost 140% was reached in 2007 (August 2007: 139.6%). The lowest level on record for the producer price index was reported in teh January of 2005 with 85.3%.
