A 15% increase to 311,000 m³ has been observed for Italy's softwood lumber imports in January compared to the same month last year, as Eurostat reports. Austria strengthened its pole position and delivered 161,000 m³ (+2%) which is four times as much as Germany on second place (40,000 m³; +51%). According to Statistics Austria, the Austrian softwood lumber exports of January amounted to 207,000 m³.
All other destinations increased their softwood lumber deliveries to Italy, as well, even if on a considerably lower level. Ukraine, for instance, supplied 15,000 m³ (+1%), Finland 13,000 m³ (+13%) and Slovakia 12,000 m³ (+64%).
