SAWMILL INDUSTRY GERMANY

Sensational start into the year

Article by Martina Nöstler, translated by Susanne Höfler | 16.03.2018 - 14:37

Germany's sawmill industry yielded a turnover of €350.4 million in January, as Destatis reports. With this, the monthly turnover is 12.3% higher than last year (€312.02 million). This makes January - next to December - the weakest month for the sawmill sector due to seasonal reasons. Previous years, however, remained below the €300 million mark: In 2016, the turnover amounted to €286.88 million, in 2015 to €295.11 million. 2014 was the last time that January sales exceeded €300 million with a total of €323.32 million.

The lowest value of the past ten years was registered in January 2010 according to Destatis: Back then, the turnover of Germany's sawmill industry totaled €192 million.
