The reason for the decrease of 7.9% in incoming orders in January compared to December is the isolated high share of large-scale orders in the previous month, the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) elaborates. The more significant three-month comparison therefore also shows a plus of 11.5% between November 2018 and January 2019 compared to August to October 2018.
Incoming orders in companies with 20(+) employees yielded around €5.9 bn. nominally which is 18.2% higher than the value of January 2018. This equals the highest value of incoming orders ever yielded in Germany.
