1.3 million sm³ to China

Due to the tense roundwood situation in Central Europe, Germany is increasingly tapping new export markets. In the first eight months of 2019, more than 1.3 million sm³ of round softwood were delivered to China.

Between January and July, Germany exported 3.49 million sm³. This makes for an export increase of 88% compared to the same period last year. What stands out especially are deliveries going to China - they increased from 32,000 sm³ to 1.32 million sm³ year-on-year.

Another massive increase was reported for exports to Belgium (416,000 sm³; +141%), Denmark (122,000 sm³; +621%) and Sweden (98,000 sm³; +821%).

Significant decreases, on the other hand, have been observed for deliveries to neighbor Austria. They dropped by 26% to 876,000 sm³, as Destatis data indicate.
