Roundwood prices +6%

Finnish stumpage prices gained 6% on average in 2018 across all types of trees compared to the previous year. The average price for standing spruce was €64.3/sm³ and for pine €60.5/sm³.

Especially the developments of the 1H 2018 influenced the stumpage prices. While in January, spruce was still sold for €61.3/sm³, in June the price already rose to €65.5/sm³. A similar development was observed for pine trunks: The January stumpage price was €58/sm³. In June, the level had already reached €61.6/sm³.

As the Natural Resources Institute Finland (Luke) reported, roundwood trade was particularly active with a plus of 20%. In total, 51.5 million sm³ were traded. The most popular trading product was spruce trunk wood in sawing quality (13.4 million sm³).
