Germany's softwood logs were subject to strong demand between January and October.

Exports to Austria amounted to 1.58 million sm³ which is 16% more than in the same period last year (1.36 million sm³). Belgium received 317,000 sm³ (+15%). A remarkable aspect in Germany's export statistics is China ranking 3rd: While between January and October fo 2017, hardly any roundwood came from Germany, this year 162,000 sm³ were bought there.

Damaged wood accruals in Poland lead to a decrease of German log imports to a total of only 83,000 sm³ (-22%).
