The Ministry of Transport in Stuttgart passed a far-reaching exception regulation for transportation of calamity wood. To get a better grip on the multiplying of bark-beetles, the regulation allows up to 46 t, as the Association of the German Sawmill and Wood Industry Baden-Württemberg (VSH) informs.

The measure requested by the VSH for transporting beetle-infested wood due to a lack of truckload capacities and a resulting short-term tonnage increase is aimed at the Ministry of Transport and also the Ministry of Rural Affairs, Food and Consumer Protection. This temporary implementation of an exception regulation for transports form damage areas to central stockyards or sawmills was urgently needed from the standpoint of the VSH.
