Rebuttal of criticism against certification

Article by Martin Heidelbauer, translated by Susanne Höfler | 23.10.2018 - 12:12

The documentary shows images of killed activists, homeless indigenous clans and deforested areas (https://www.arte.tv/de/videos/072571-000-A/die-ausbeutung-der-urwaelder/; the documentary is in German, German and French are subtitles available). A conclusion that is repeatedly drawn in the film is that these terrible scenes are indirectly caused or tolerated by the FSC. Furthermore, it is insinuated that the FSC could have a link to organized crime or activities that violate human dignity.

"We categorically reject all forms of violence, illegal logging, human rights violations and deforestation", the FSC declares. Independent investigations for instance show that in certified primeval forest areas, the quality of basic supply as well as working and living conditions are improving, according to the FSC.
