Imports gained one third

Statistics Austria reports of an import volume of 991,000 sm³ in the first two months of this year. Compared to the same period in the previous year, this is an increase by 57%. Not only deliveries from main supplier country Czech Republic increased considerably (470,000; +46%), also Germany was able to more than double exports going to Austria with a total of 262,000 sm³ (+118%). Slovenia, as well, supplied more softwood sawlogs: With 191,000 sm³, the deliveries from the southern neighbors gained 59%. These three countries are responsible for over 90% of Austria's imported softwood sawlogs.

Italy (20,000 sm³, -30%) and Slovakia (19,000 sm³; -21%) on the other hand delivered less roundwood in the first two months.

In February alone, Austria imported 525,000 sm³. In comparison to February 2017, this is a plus of 40%.
