New record pellet prices in September 2022

In September, massive price jumps were recorded in the neutral pellet prices in the DACH region. In Germany, the pellet price is already 227% higher than in the same month of last year.

In Germany, wood pellets cost €531.8/t (without VAT, transport and handling costs) in September. Compared to the previous month, the pellet price was up by another 12%, while year-on-year, an increase of 227% was recorded.

In Austria, the pellet price rose by 5.8% to €426.8/t in September. Compared to the same month of 2021, buyers have to pay 148% more.

In Switzerland, the neutral pellet price is currently at €407.7/t, up by 10.8% compared to August and by 100% compared to September 2021. The neutral pellet price, which is based on the average ten-year franc exchange rate and therefore is less affected by currency fluctuations, is at €356/t in September.
