The German Wood Fuel and Pellets Association (DEPV) reports a pellet production output of 760,000 tons in the second quarter. This corresponds to 2.6% increase compared to the first quarter (741,000 tons). Year on year, the DEPV’s member companies produced 14% more wood pellets. According to the association, output amounted to 679,000 tons from April to June 2019. In the same period of 2018, 594,000 tons of pellets were produced.

In the first half year, production output was at 1.5 million tons, which is 12% more than in the same period of last year (around 1.33 million tons). In the first half year of 2018, 1.18 million tons were produced.

If the trend of the first two quarters continues in the second half year, German pellet producers could reach a total quantity of over 3 million tons, which would be an increase of more than 6% compared to last year (2.82 million tons) and of 24% compared to 2018 (2.4 million tons).
