Steico, Feldkirchen/DE, has placed an order with Finnish engineering company Raute for the construction of the planned production site for laminated veneer lumber in Czarna Woda/PL. The contract includes the essential plant technology for an LVL- production plant from veneer cutting to panel finishing. The contract value amounts to approximately € 23 million. In addition, investments will be made in round wood processing, as well as for production building and infrastructure improvements that are awarded to other companies.
Polish pine will primarily be used as a raw material for the production of the LVL, harvested in the forests around Czarna Woda. Commissioning of the plant is scheduled for late 2015.
In January and February, Austria exported a total of 285,186 m³ of glue-laminated and cross-laminated timber, recording a year-on-year decrease of 2%.
